Sunken Concrete: A Safety Risk and Liability

Ignoring sunken concrete around your Stockton home not only poses a safety risk but also opens the door to potential legal issues. Why wait for an accident to happen? Our efficient concrete lifting and leveling solution, utilizing polyurethane foam injection, can resolve these issues quickly, often within just a few hours.

Nestled along the scenic San Joaquin River, Stockton, CA, is one of the areas where we proudly offer our services, catering to a range of needs including:

Benefits of Opting for Polyurethane Foam Injection

Choose polyurethane foam injection, or slabjacking, for concrete lifting to enjoy multiple advantages:

  • Cost and Time Savings: Avoid the extensive expenses and delays associated with replacing concrete.
  • Immediate Accessibility: Walk on the slab right after the repair, thanks to the quick cure time.
  • Soil-friendly Solution: The lightweight foam won’t add pressure to the already burdened soil beneath.
  • Eco-conscious Choice: Our method is safe for the environment, with no harmful chemicals involved.
  • Aesthetic Improvement: Elevate the look of your property by fixing unsightly dips and cracks.

Why Do Concrete Slabs Sink or Crack?

Various factors can lead to the damage of concrete slabs, such as:

Drainage Issues: Excess water can erode soil under the slab, creating voids.

Soil Strength: Inadequate soil may fail to support the weight of the concrete.

Soil Swelling and Shrinking: Changes in moisture content can cause soil to expand and contract, unsettling the slab.

Tree Root Interference: Expanding roots can push against and distort concrete slabs.

What are the Different Ways to Lift a Concrete Slab?

Exploring Methods to Elevate a Concrete Slab

In the past, fixing an uneven concrete slab often meant choosing between two less-than-ideal options: the labor-intensive process of slab replacement or the hefty approach known as mudjacking. But let’s dive into why these methods are becoming things of the past, and how modern solutions are changing the game.

Mudjacking debris.

Mudjacking: A Heavy Solution

Mudjacking does the lifting by drilling holes into the slab and pumping in a cement mixture underneath. The catch? This mixture is heavy—really heavy. If the ground was already struggling under the slab’s weight, adding more can just make matters worse, potentially leading to further sinking and the need for additional repairs.

Replacing the Concrete: A Time-Intensive Fix

Then there’s the old-school method of completely replacing the sunken slab. Not only does this take a chunk out of your wallet, but it also requires patience: new concrete takes time to dry and settle. Plus, if the original issue was weak soil, simply pouring new concrete might end up back at square one.

Clean polyurethane foam injection.

The Modern Move: Polyurethane Foam Injection

Enter polyurethane foam injection, also fondly known as slabjacking. This method is the new kid on the block, offering a lighter, quicker fix. We drill just a few small holes, then inject a special foam that expands and lifts the slab back to its rightful position. The beauty of this approach? It’s not only less invasive but also allows you to walk on your slab almost immediately after the repair. Most importantly, it doesn’t add extra weight to the already burdened soil.

With the foam’s rapid expansion and solid support, you can wave goodbye to uneven concrete in just a few hours, making it the go-to choice for a fast, effective, and friendly solution to sagging slabs.

Our house is 85 years old and has some cracking on the stucco, so I called for a free inspection to see if the problems were something we need to be concerned about. Daniel, our inspector, was prompt and friendly and explained everything he was doing and seeing as he took measurements and inspected the foundations. He said that while there are things we can do for earthquake retrofitting (and he did recommend a separate company for that if we wanted to do it) our problems were mostly cosmetic and nothing to worry about. He also took his measurements to be scanned in at his office and kept on file so that we can have him back out for another inspection in the future to compare, again, purely at our discretion. He was respectful, friendly, and straightforward and answered all of my questions. I'd definitely recommend them.
