Within a few months of buying our first home, we noticed some troubling signs: bedroom doors swinging open or closed on their own, “bubbles” and creaks in sections of the newly renovated floors, and significant cracks splitting the concrete in our garage. Although two general inspectors assured us that our house was level, we reached out to Bay Area Underpinning (BAU) for a more detailed assessment—and we're so glad we did! Inspector Christopher Murray conducted a meticulous inspection with radar equipment. While technically our house was level, Christopher uncovered that our foundation was sinking by inches in multiple areas, explaining the issues we were experiencing. Though the news and associated repair cost were a bit daunting as new homeowners, Christopher’s knowledge, professionalism, and clear answers to all our questions reassured us that we were in good hands. With confidence, we decided to proceed with BAU for the repair. Fredy Mora and his crew did exceptional work with the demo of the old concrete slabs and the prep for lifting, working quickly and efficiently. Fredy’s positive attitude made the process smooth, and his team was thorough and dedicated from start to finish. A special thank you to our lift project manager, Kevin Gaeden. Kevin was an outstanding communicator, keeping us fully informed and addressing every question promptly. His attentiveness made a huge difference throughout the project, and we felt reassured every step of the way. Esteban Ibarra, a crewmember on the lift team, also did superb work, handling the hands-on details with skill and care. Both Kevin and Esteban even went above and beyond, taking time to fix a jammed bedroom door that had shifted with the house lift. While foundation issues are never easy, we couldn’t have asked for a better team. We’re incredibly grateful to Bay Area Underpinning for their expertise, professionalism, and exceptional service. I had my foundation repaired and everyone who came to work was amazing. So helpful, polite and professional and with a great sense of humor. I will sleep much better tonight. I noticed a crack in my foundation and called Bay Area Underpinning. Hunter came out and walked the entire property and went underneath my house. He identified one other issue that I knew about besides the crack and told me they could fix that too. I had no idea you can call structural engineers for chimneys. His quote was fair to me and you can't beat the warranty and financing. Today Jesus Villagomes and Erick Baez came out and fixed the crack, they also looked around underneath and reassured me AGAIN that my house was in good shape. Because I caught it early they were able to fill the crack and then add a carbon fiber exposy seal. They also sealed the crack from the outside, even though they had already filled it in under the house. They were professional, answered all my questions, no matter how many and honestly were just pleasant to work with. They also explained my maintenance plan so I knew what to expect. I would absolutely recommend this entire team, to stay professionally kind in high heat is amazing. The Chimney job is pending and again, I'm ahead of the curve and not waiting for it to get worse.

Our house is 85 years old and has some cracking on the stucco, so I called for a free inspection to see if the problems were something we need to be concerned about. Daniel, our inspector, was prompt and friendly and explained everything he was doing and seeing as he took measurements and inspected the foundations. He said that while there are things we can do for earthquake retrofitting (and he did recommend a separate company for that if we wanted to do it) our problems were mostly cosmetic and nothing to worry about. He also took his measurements to be scanned in at his office and kept on file so that we can have him back out for another inspection in the future to compare, again, purely at our discretion. He was respectful, friendly, and straightforward and answered all of my questions. I'd definitely recommend them.
