I had a great experience with Bay Area Underpinning. They fixed my foundation, which was a substantial job, in a matter days, and did all of the engineering and permitting at a very fair price. I cannot say enough good things about Tyler, Angelo, and Louise, who did all the hard work. They were on time each day, very diligent, and patiently answered all of my questions. Then, when the job was finished, they cleaned the work area and left it in a better condition than they found it. Within a few months of buying our first home, we noticed some troubling signs: bedroom doors swinging open or closed on their own, “bubbles” and creaks in sections of the newly renovated floors, and significant cracks splitting the concrete in our garage. Although two general inspectors assured us that our house was level, we reached out to Bay Area Underpinning (BAU) for a more detailed assessment—and we're so glad we did! Inspector Christopher Murray conducted a meticulous inspection with radar equipment. While technically our house was level, Christopher uncovered that our foundation was sinking by inches in multiple areas, explaining the issues we were experiencing. Though the news and associated repair cost were a bit daunting as new homeowners, Christopher’s knowledge, professionalism, and clear answers to all our questions reassured us that we were in good hands. With confidence, we decided to proceed with BAU for the repair. Fredy Mora and his crew did exceptional work with the demo of the old concrete slabs and the prep for lifting, working quickly and efficiently. Fredy’s positive attitude made the process smooth, and his team was thorough and dedicated from start to finish. A special thank you to our lift project manager, Kevin Gaeden. Kevin was an outstanding communicator, keeping us fully informed and addressing every question promptly. His attentiveness made a huge difference throughout the project, and we felt reassured every step of the way. We recently purchased a home in San Jose. In the report it stated that our home was fine and no foundation issues were noted. Upon moving in my wife noticed some cracks started to appear on the walls around the house. We contacted Bay Area underpinning to have them come and inspect our house. A couple of days before our appointment, Jim Rivera gave us a call to confirm the day and time of the appointment. This was the first positive experience we had with Jim and BAU. On the day of the appointment Jim called to let us know that he was 30 minutes away and showed up right on time. Once he arrived he listened to the issues we were noticing and then he went to work. He brought in some hi-tek tools and explained to us what the readings meant. Jim was extremely thorough and personable. He clearly has a lot of knowledge and showed us a bunch of photos that he took while he was in our crawlspace as well as photos of some exterior things that he noticed. Overall he said our home was in great condition with only minimal issues that we should address. He was very patient in answering all of our questions and provided us with a quote when he was finished. We were pleasantly surprised that the cost was very reasonable and comes with a lifetime warranty. We will be giving our business to Jim and Bay Area Underpinning. As a new home owner we were terrified of what the cost could be to fix our home. Jim really helped us understand what was going on and we would suggest that anyone who is having similar foundation issues like ours, we highly recommend that you should call Jim Rivera and Bay Area Underpinning.

When we had our 1960s home underpinned, the consultant arrived on time to give us a quote. He gave us different options for work to be done and had solutions to cutting cost on things that weren't absolutely necessary. The work was done within a week. All of the workers were professional. Something that stood out the most was the way the workers communicated with each other. They weren't your typical construction crew in this sense. They were very kind to each other and supportive of each other, even when they were in a difficult situation. This isn't common in construction. As for the cost, it was what we had expected and we don't have any complaints. Our house is level now and doesn't feel like we're drunk walking in areas that were previously sagging. There's a reason Bay Area Underpinning is #1 in the area. Would recommend, even if they aren't the cheapest- they get the job done right.
