I recently scheduled an inspection after concerns around my foundation and worked with Jim Rivera on my home. Jim was super helpful and knowledgeable in assessing the severity of my foundation issues, while also assessing other parts of the home that might be contributing to potential damage in the future. I was surprised how helpful he was in helping me understand different scenarios, planning for near-term/long term fixes, and putting my mind at ease over the foundation issues. Had BAU take care of a chimney that was leaning away from my home, fix my front door which would jam at times of the year and relevel my floors. This was my second time working with BAU who installed screw jacks and leveled my floors several years ago. This time, Juan took a look at the problem areas, took measurements, made recommendations that fit my needs and budget and answered all my questions. Gonzalo and team came to work on my property. They worked quickly to install piers under the chimney and in the crawl space. They put tarp down to keep the house clean in the areas they needed access and cleaned up after themselves each day on the job. They answered my questions and throughly explained the problems and solutions they would implement to level the floor. Overall, I'm pleased with their work, being on time each day, and communication skills and would recommend.

Our house is 85 years old and has some cracking on the stucco, so I called for a free inspection to see if the problems were something we need to be concerned about. Daniel, our inspector, was prompt and friendly and explained everything he was doing and seeing as he took measurements and inspected the foundations. He said that while there are things we can do for earthquake retrofitting (and he did recommend a separate company for that if we wanted to do it) our problems were mostly cosmetic and nothing to worry about. He also took his measurements to be scanned in at his office and kept on file so that we can have him back out for another inspection in the future to compare, again, purely at our discretion. He was respectful, friendly, and straightforward and answered all of my questions. I'd definitely recommend them.

After careful inspection, their agent, Richard, told me the truth, which was that my crawlspace was fine, that I had no problem with moisture or settling. And then he took the time to show me why. He could have tried to sell me on doing a lot of work, but he didn't. This kind of honesty is impressive! Call Bay Area Underpinning to inspect your crawlspace. You can trust them. If they say it needs work, hire them to do it. I am almost sorry I couldn't!

Pre-Visit Confirmation ***** – Email, text and phone calls to confirm the time and prep me for the visit. Incredible. Nobody is doing this right these days and BAU absolutely has it nailed down. 3. Estimator ***** – I wish I could offer more than 5 stars. Joe Le Bel is the most professional tradesman I've met in a long time. Others are good too, but Joe is the gold standard. He sat with me to ask what I was concerned about and what was important to my family. Who does that???? Oh yeah, Joe did. So comforting. Joe was professional and respectful of our space. Was careful to be conscientious about where he placed his gear, tools and instruments. Super clean going under the house without tracking dirt and debris back into the house. (The inspectors from HomeGuard could definitely take notes on this!) Then, once Joe finished, he sat down with us and talked us through all the different aspects off his inspection. What an extremely positive interaction. I would 100% recommend BAU and Joe. Can't get any better than this. Thanks BAU for a great culture of excellence. We just bought a house, and literally every single metal pier in the crawlspace was rusted out. Bay Are Underpinning came in and did an awesome job. Their inspector Aaron was super thorough in assessing the damage and explained everything in detail. Then, the repair crew of Eric, Jesus, and Andrew came in and knocked out the entire job in a day — a huge relief considering we had a ton of other work we need to get done before moving in. The work is not cheap, but they offer financing options and stand by their work, so I feel very good about the entire job.

Our biggest fear was that our new kitchen granite counters would crack in the lifting, but Brandon and his crew were extremely mindful of the situation, taking extra care and nothing cracked. I couldn't remove the tile without replacing it all at a large expense so they did the whole job in a very cramped crawl space. After careful review of several contractors, we chose Bay Area Underpinning and so glad we did! The entire process was smooth from the sales engineer estimate to the completion of the job, the communication was outstanding all along from day to day and ourblift was a big job with a full week of labor intensive work. I especially want to thank Foreman Cody Summers, Co-Foreman Ken Hamlin, and Installer Nikolas Klein for their outstanding work and customer service! When we had our 1960s home underpinned, the consultant arrived on time to give us a quote. He gave us different options for work to be done and had solutions to cutting cost on things that weren't absolutely necessary. The work was done within a week. All of the workers were professional. Something that stood out the most was the way the workers communicated with each other. They weren't your typical construction crew in this sense. They were very kind to each other and supportive of each other, even when they were in a difficult situation. This isn't common in construction. As for the cost, it was what we had expected and we don't have any complaints. Our house is level now and doesn't feel like we're drunk walking in areas that were previously sagging. There's a reason Bay Area Underpinning is #1 in the area. Would recommend, even if they aren't the cheapest- they get the job done right.

Several months ago, I noticed that doors in my house were no longer closing and latching. Specifically, my front door no longer locked completely. Once I got it fully locked I could no longer open my front door anymore, so I knew I had foundation issues. I called Bay Area Underpinning to come look at my foundation and do some measurements. We discovered that my front living room was sinking approximately one and a half to 2 inches. The crew, Lance Sladek, Jake Hall, and Eddie Shaw, crawled under my house and dug 30 to 40 foot holes in the ground to install piers that would lift my foundation. These gentlemen worked in very cramped dirty conditions in 90-100° weather. I was extremely happy with their work and their dedication to doing the job correctly. My after the foundation lift, my front door as well as several other doors in my home were able to close and latch again.

We recently had foundation work completed. The crew was on time every day and worked hard to keep a very dirty job and their traffic through the house to a minimum. The crew chief, Robert Busch, was amazing. Telling us what was planned for the day, any unforeseen problems, and giving us a recap of what was completed daily. We could not have had a better experience with his communication and hard work. Everyone was respectful and friendly. I also thought that the evaluation and estimate experience was positive. Jim communicated clearly and we never felt that work being suggested was unnecessary. He explained clearly and showed us pictures of what was going on under the house.Hope we never need them again, but would use them in a flash.

I will sleep much better tonight. I noticed a crack in my foundation and called Bay Area Underpinning. Hunter came out and walked the entire property and went underneath my house. He identified one other issue that I knew about besides the crack and told me they could fix that too. I had no idea you can call structural engineers for chimneys. His quote was fair to me and you can't beat the warranty and financing. Today Jesus Villagomes and Erick Baez came out and fixed the crack, they also looked around underneath and reassured me AGAIN that my house was in good shape. Because I caught it early they were able to fill the crack and then add a carbon fiber exposy seal. They also sealed the crack from the outside, even though they had already filled it in under the house. They were professional, answered all my questions, no matter how many and honestly were just pleasant to work with. They also explained my maintenance plan so I knew what to expect. I would absolutely recommend this entire team, to stay professionally kind in high heat is amazing. The Chimney job is pending and again, I'm ahead of the curve and not waiting for it to get worse.

From my initial consultation with Rick DeSoto to the work performed by foreman Raul, and his team Jonathan and Demareon, this was the best possible experience in working Bay Area Underpinning for the first time. The crew was professional and adjusted the leveling jacks (and even added a couple as was needed) with care and great attention. Pricing was very reasonable too. Within a few months of buying our first home, we noticed some troubling signs: bedroom doors swinging open or closed on their own, “bubbles” and creaks in sections of the newly renovated floors, and significant cracks splitting the concrete in our garage. Although two general inspectors assured us that our house was level, we reached out to Bay Area Underpinning (BAU) for a more detailed assessment—and we're so glad we did! Inspector Christopher Murray conducted a meticulous inspection with radar equipment. While technically our house was level, Christopher uncovered that our foundation was sinking by inches in multiple areas, explaining the issues we were experiencing. Though the news and associated repair cost were a bit daunting as new homeowners, Christopher’s knowledge, professionalism, and clear answers to all our questions reassured us that we were in good hands. With confidence, we decided to proceed with BAU for the repair. Fredy Mora and his crew did exceptional work with the demo of the old concrete slabs and the prep for lifting, working quickly and efficiently. Fredy’s positive attitude made the process smooth, and his team was thorough and dedicated from start to finish. A special thank you to our lift project manager, Kevin Gaeden. Kevin was an outstanding communicator, keeping us fully informed and addressing every question promptly. His attentiveness made a huge difference throughout the project, and we felt reassured every step of the way. Esteban Ibarra, a crewmember on the lift team, also did superb work, handling the hands-on details with skill and care. Both Kevin and Esteban even went above and beyond, taking time to fix a jammed bedroom door that had shifted with the house lift. While foundation issues are never easy, we couldn’t have asked for a better team. We’re incredibly grateful to Bay Area Underpinning for their expertise, professionalism, and exceptional service. Foreman Andrew is incredible and a leader. We hired BAU to perform a whole house underpinning job from December 2022-March 2023. Our recently purchased 1950's home sat on expansive clay soil and had been settling for decades. The project was a big job and complicated by the winter rains that occurred throughout many days of the project. Andrew was extremely professional, knowledgeable about every aspect of the job and managed the entire project class and skill.He communicates very effectively and is transparent to assuage any concerns that we had on the project. He also shows up earlier than anyone, and works the entire day, rain or shine, in the mud and trenches with his team. This leadership was impressive. Since the completion of our project, he has remained available and came out to make some minor adjustments promptly and free of charge. Without any hesitation, I would entrust BAU to do my foundation work with the demand that Andrew lead the project. Thank you Andrew and your crew for a job well done.

I called in Bay Area Underpinning for foundation work. They were wonderful answering my many concerns, I received prompt return calls, the work was completed within an appropriate time frame, and the best thing he stayed with the estimate to the dollar. I loved the engineer, time frame, and minimal damage repair. I didn't know how my house was going to respond and even the marble and windows handled well. Unfortunately I didn't get the exact lift I wanted in the office even though they tried their hardest. My advice — call them when the problem first arises and the outcome and the house will lift with ease. I definitely recommend BAU. Because I live on a hill one pillar had to be covered – done. I also had a French drain installed to divert the water which was recommended. Thank you

Joe was professional, punctual, and thorough in his inspection, explaining everything he found in a way that was easy to understand. He took the time to ensure I knew what was going on beneath my home and didn't push any unnecessary services. I highly recommend him for anyone in need of an honest and detailed inspection. Thank you Bay Area Underpinning for saving the day! I was in a challenging and prolonged situation since going into contract with EagleLift for the stabilization/lift for my house. After a long permit process and continuously delayed start dates, I was informed that EagleLift had been acquired by Groundworks and I’d have to wait a few more month before any progress could happen. It was a deeply frustrating process but the EagleLift team was able to connect us with Bay Area Underpinning (another Groundworks company) who were able to take over and expedite the project. To my surprise, James T. from BAU reached out quickly and assigned a team to come to my house within a week! The team that ended up working on the house, specifically Ish, John and Abel were exceptional. They were diligent, knowledgable, friendly and deeply considerate. They are truly pros who knocked the project out in no time which was reassuring since I was nervous that this project was gonna stretch into the rainy season. My house feels so stable now (minimal cracks too) and the considerable slope is now practically nonexistent! Thanks a lot James T., Ish, John, Abel and the BAU team for taking really great care of us.

My friend recommended this company and their tech Jason Dye to me, so I requested a foundation inspection/estimate. Jason is very responsive. He would text me and let me know the ETA when he was on the way. After he arrived, he checked everything very carefully. He gave me some good suggestions to help maintain foundation in a good shape, and even helped me set up the extension pipes from gutter downspouts. I enjoyed our communication and is very happy with his service. And he is super friendly to my dog!

Last week, my car cut off while exiting the highway in Dixon, and I was stranded in a dangerous spot. Fortunately, your employees who were driving a Bay Area Underpinning truck, Erick Baez, Jesus Vallegomez, and Wesley Almaza stopped to help. They worked hard to try and troubleshoot my car and even pushed it out of the street to a nearby gas station while I waited for AAA. Their professionalism, kindness, and respect were incredible.
